Near Here continues Paul Druecke’s use of historic plaques to contribute to the story of place. The project expands local lore by dislocating history while asserting the centrality of the plaque itself. Near Here continues Druecke’s use of bronze plaques as sculptural interventions. Often overlooked, these markers embody questions of authority, communal value, and personal agency. Druecke’s pioneering work offers new perspectives on the social landscape. As part of his residency in Cleveland, Ohio, Druecke permanently placed two plaques on the facade of Spaces art center. The Near Here series is a collaboration with poet, Donna Stonecipher.

HABEAS LOUNGE is an environment created by Linda Pollack designed to foster and animate civic dialogue. Editions of HABEAS LOUNGE’s have been installed in cities in the U.S. and abroad, addressing issues ranging from urban planning and constitutional democracy to economic bubbles.
